As a Yard Spotter you will be performing daily equipment moves to and from docks and parking lots. You will fuel trucks and ensure they are in good working order.
Essential Functions:
- Efficiently and accurately stage trailers/trucks for loading and transport while ensuring proper temperature control
- Maneuver and back trailers/trucks into loading docks, pre-trip fleet equipment including trailers, straight trucks, tractors, spotter trucks
- Maneuver trailers/trucks into yard parking stalls to ensure there is no traffic back up
- Follow all safety protocols including, performing safety checks to secure fleet
- Fuel trucks/trailer with diesel and DEF fluid as needed
- Check proper refrigeration set points on equipment
- Perform safety checks of yard and equipment fleet
- Collaborate with warehouse personnel using safety traffic control lighting system to move equipment from one location to another, according to door assignments
- Work with Transportation/Warehouse Management team to ensure proper equipment is used for routes
- Work closely with maintenance shop to ensure repairs are finished before using the equipment
- Take and pick up fleet from service providers as needed
- Pick-up loads and organize goods in an ordered, logical manner as needed
- Accurately, safely, and efficiently deliver merchandise using hand-trucks, ramps and/or lift gates to customers. May include delivering products up and down stairs and in all types of weather as needed
Competencies:
- Minimum of 21 years of age
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English to communicate verbally and in writing, bilingual a plus
- Ability to follow directions and willing to learn
- Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse or distribution environment
- Strong attention to safety and detail
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and drivers
Education & Experience:
- Valid CDL Class A license
- At least 21 years of age
- At least 1 year of truck and trailer backing experience
- No more than 2 preventable accidents in the past 3 years
- No more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years and proven safe PSP score
- Proper understanding and operation of refrigeration equipment
- Proficiency in operating yard trucks, trailers, and other equipment safely and efficiently
- Ability to maneuver vehicles in tight spaces and follow traffic patterns within the yard
- Understanding of loading and unloading procedures, trailer hookups, and brake systems
Physical Demands:
- Stand or sit for long periods of time
- Kneel and stoop as needed while performing vehicle inspections
- Ability to sit, climb, and enter/exit equipment frequently
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when needed
Work Schedule:
- Sunday – Friday (Off on Saturdays and one day off during the week)
- 7:00am and 9:00am start times
- 40-45 hours per week
- Able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
Compensation:
- Day Shift $25.75
Additional Pay Incentive:
- Sign-on-Bonus: $5,000 net with payments of $1,250 at 90 days of employment and on a quarterly basis thereafter
