We're looking for a Buyer who takes the same approach and is able to build real relationships with vendors and colleagues and isn't afraid to dig in and get things done!
Essential Functions:
- Key FP&A leader contributing to strategy, planning, and business performance management for the FreshEdge organization and family of companies
- Manage daily replenishment activities to maintain appropriate inventory levels across all product categories at the hub facility
- Purchase products based on demand signals, inventory targets, supplier lead times, and order minimums
- Partner closely with warehouse operations to address inventory challenges, shortages, substitutions, and receiving issues in real time
- Monitor inventory levels and trends to improve product availability, reduce out-of-stocks, and minimize excess or obsolete inventory
- Analyze purchasing trends, forecasts, and inventory data to support sound buying decisions and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Collaborate with internal OpCos to understand their product needs, service expectations, and seasonal demand patterns
- Communicate effectively across purchasing, operations, sales, and warehouse teams to improve execution and service levels
- Identify and act on opportunistic spot buys that provide competitively priced product for OpCos to penetrate existing customers or gain new business
- Evaluate deals based on margin potential, inventory risk, shelf life, and alignment with OpCo customer demand
- Communicate available deals and promotions to OpCo sales teams in a timely manner so they can capitalize on pricing advantages
- Build and maintain supplier relationships that surface buying opportunities before they reach the broader market
- Track and report on procurement activity, including deal volume, margin contribution, and OpCo uptake
- Manage vendor setup and maintenance in the ERP system (Produce Pro), ensuring accurate records for pricing, terms, lead times, and contact information
- In collaboration with the Vendor Management team, ensure all required vendor documentation is completed, current, and properly filed (certificates of insurance, food safety documentation, W-9s, credit applications, etc.)
- Administer vendor rebate programs, tracking accruals, filing claims, and reconciling payments to ensure the company captures all earned funds
- Partner with the Category Managers and help coordinate vendor marketing programs and promotional allowances; work with OpCo teams to maximize participation and value
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable product supply and timely issue resolution
- Support new vendor evaluation and onboarding in coordination with the Merchandising team
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen purchasing processes, inventory management, and operational efficiency
- Contribute to the development of purchasing best practices and standard operating procedures as the hub network expands
- Provide feedback on system capabilities and workflow improvements that would benefit the purchasing function

- Comfortable making decisions and standing behind them in a fast-moving environment
- Able to quickly gain proficiency navigating ERP systems, reporting tools, and purchasing platforms
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field. MBA or equivalent preferred
- 2+ years of experience in purchasing, buying, or procurement in a distribution, wholesale, or food service environment
- Experience with inventory replenishment, demand planning, or supply chain operations
- Working knowledge of vendor management processes including vendor setup, documentation, and rebate administration
- Familiarity with ERP systems and purchasing workflows
- Solid understanding of margins, cost structures, and inventory productivity metrics
- Experience in a multi-site, decentralized, or hub-and-spoke distribution environment is preferred
- Existing relationships with commodity traders and wholesalers that typically offer spot buy opportunities is preferred
- Proficient PC skills in CRM and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems- Produce Pro, Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), and common E Mail systems
