Get Fresh Produce started in 1982 as a retail produce store in Chicago, specializing in premium fresh fruit, vegetables, specialty foods, and dairy. Get Fresh Produce executes distribution of more than 13 million cases annually to 3,000 customers.

We work every day to drive consistency in the areas most important to our customers: Customer Service, Quality, Food, Safety, Reporting, Technology.
Essential Functions:
- Financial Management – Full accountability for the P&L of the distribution center, ensuring profitability and financial health. Develop, manage, and execute budgets, forecasts, and financial reports. Monitor key financial metrics (e.g., revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, and cost-per-case metrics) and implement corrective actions as needed. Drive cost savings initiatives while maintaining service quality.
- Operations Management – Oversee daily operations, including inbound and outbound logistics, warehousing, inventory management, and transportation. Implement strategies to improve efficiency, accuracy, and overall productivity. Performance & P&L gap analysis. Ensure the distribution center adheres to safety, food safety, quality, and compliance standards (OSHA, FDA, SQF, etc.). Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate operational effectiveness.
- Leadership and Team Development - Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence. Set clear performance goals and expectations for department leaders and team members. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide actionable feedback to improve individual and team outcomes.
- Customer Focus – Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring on-time and accurate order fulfillment. Address and resolve customer issues promptly to maintain high levels of satisfaction. Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to identify and meet customer needs.
- Strategic Planning and Continuous Improvement – Develop and execute short-term and long-term operational strategies aligned with company goals. Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and innovation. Implement best practices in warehouse and distribution management.
- Compliance and Risk Management – Ensure the facility complies with all regulatory, safety, food safety and company policies. Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and mitigate risks. Lead the team in maintaining a safe working environment, reducing incidents, and promoting a strong safety & food safety culture.
- Key Performance Indicators – Evaluate the following fiscal metric and adjust activities to meet or exceed performance expectations. Profit & Loss (P&L) performance (revenue growth, profit margins). Operational efficiency (cost per case, order accuracy, on-time delivery, delivery cost). Safety metrics (incident rate, compliance audit scores). Food safety compliance. .Employee engagement and retention. Customer satisfaction scores.
Other Essential Functions:
- Maintain regular and satisfactory full-time attendance
- Perform work outside of normal business hours as required
- Perform special projects as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer – Get Fresh Produce
Competencies, Education, and Skills:
- P&L performance (revenue growth, profit margins)

- Minimum 7–10 years of leadership experience in distribution, logistics, or supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a P&L management role
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field is preferred
- Proficient PC skills in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), data analytics tools, and Microsoft Office
- Proven track record of successfully managing operations in a high-volume distribution environment
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and data analytics tools
Physical Demands:
- Occasionally lift up to 50lbs
- Stand or sit for long periods of time
- Work in cold and wet cooler conditions for extended periods of time
