Credit and Collections Manager

 Essential Functions:

  • Manage customer credit standing, determining credit worthiness, and issuance of appropriate credit terms.
  • Acts as principal in gathering financial and other credit information to be used in risk analysis to develop credit limits for potential customers.
  • Monitor the accounts receivable trial balance to manage customer accounts with past due balances.
  • Contacts customers to facilitate collections when necessary.
  • Assesses collectability to determine when past due balances should be deemed bad debt.
  • Establish and maintain communication with major accounts to insure expeditious collections with rapid resolution of past due accounts.
  • Oversee and control major national and regional account collections and their aggregation within the account master with some degree of latitude and judgement using existing systems.
  • Prepare files for uncollectible accounts for submission for assignment to outside collection agencies. When applicable, work with the general council to apply PACA (Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act) provisions.
  • Monitor and control customer account applications for ownership linkage so major account exposures are linked with the same ownership ID to ensure risk is accurately assessed and assigned at the highest level.

 Competencies, Education, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related area of study or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years’ experience in credit and collections, 10+ years preferred
  • Relevant experience in Finance, Accounting, or related functions considered
  • At least 2 years of leadership responsibilities preferred
  • Wholesale distribution, specifically in food and food manufacturing, experience preferred
  • Ability to exercise integrity and discretion
  • Ability to remain professional in confrontational conversations
  • Ability to negotiate with customers and sales without conceding FreshEdge financial objectives
  • Ability to research account information in state, court and other websites to identify ownership, proper legal name and other information required to set up and link accounts
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software program, Produce Pro or other ERP system and various reporting and analytic tools

 Work Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday
  • 9:00am – 5:00pm

 

Compensation:

  • $70,000 - $80,000 + 10% bonus

Physical Demands:

  • Stand or sit for long periods of time
  • Travel as needed
