Day Transportation Supervisor
Get Fresh Produce started in 1982 as a retail produce store in Chicago, specializing in premium fresh fruit, vegetables, specialty foods, and dairy. Essential Functions:
- Preparing driver schedules, approving time off requests, discipline, and attendance issues
- Daily dispatch of drivers and assigning all equipment needed for the day
- Route recommendations for maximum efficiencies
- Directly supervise drivers and yard spotters on all facets of compliance with DOT and safe driving compliance.
- Hands-on management, such as ride-alongs for coaching and training as needed. Safety of our fleet, drivers, and the public.
- Communicate service issues to sales, customer service, and the Operations team
- Works closely with Dispatch personnel and the Director of transportation to provide best-in-class delivery expectations.
- Coordinates with Operations to ensure customer and driver needs are met.
- Participate in the hiring of Drivers: interviews, road tests, paperwork.
- Participate in Safety investigations, review, and reporting with root-cause analysis.
- Review performance and service levels with customers on delivery experience.
- Good understanding of Samsara software system and ability to navigate through Samsara.
- Have a good working understanding of the CBA, (collective bargaining agreement)
Competencies, Education, and Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and mindfulness
- Experience in a fast-paced transportation environment, food service is a plus
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and effectively
- Ensures that the duties, responsibilities, authority, and accountability of all direct reports are being followed and understood
- High School diploma or GED
- 6+ years of transportation experience with at least 4 years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Produce Pro ERP software a plus
- Knowledge of driver safety and DOT compliance requirements
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and attention to detail/accuracy
- Self-managed, motivated, ability to work through demanding situations
- Must possess a valid CDL Class A or B License
- Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English
Physical Demands:
- Stand or sit for long periods of time
- Travel as needed
- Work in cold and wet cooler conditions for extended periods of time
Compensation:
- $75,000 - $85,000/Year, based on experience
Work Schedule:
- Monday - Saturday (Off on Sunday and another day during the week)
- 6-day work week as business needs arise
- 40+ Hours
- Mandatory holiday shifts
- Start time: 4:00am to 7:00am until work is completed
- This is an in-person position in Bartlett IL
