
Associate Buyer
Get Fresh Produce started in 1982 as a retail produce store in Chicago, specializing in premium fresh fruit, vegetables, specialty foods, and dairy. Get Fresh is supported by an amazing team of sales, customer service, procurement, and operations professionals. Get Fresh Produce executes distribution of more than 13 million cases annually to 3,000 customers.

We work every day to drive consistency in the areas most important to our customers: Customer Service, Quality, Food, Safety, Reporting, Technology.
Essential Functions:
- Manage the day-to-day warehouse functions of the operations.
- Create and send purchase orders in Produce Pro, our ERP, based on lead time, usages and minimum order quantity
- Confirm purchase orders in Produce Pro as it relates to pricing and quantity.
- Follow up with vendors/carriers regarding purchase order’s overdue
- Keep up with “unconfirmed” purchase orders
- Keep all “open orders” up to date
- Work with vendors on purchase order issues such as returns or credits
- Keep up to date vendor information such as item #’s correctly stated in Produce Pro, pack sizes weights etc.
- Request forms and maintain MSDS files for chemicals and product specifications
- Work with Inventory control on rotation and code date issues (code date report)
- Work with Inventory teams on internal damage issues in relation to DC related or supplier hidden damages and resolve through proper channels
- Minimize “short items”
- Work with Receiving Teams on inbound issues as it relates to delays, damage, etc.
Competencies, Education, and Skills:
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years of experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment
- Experience with Purchasing, Inventory, and distribution systems
- Proficient PC skills in CRM and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems- Produce Pro, Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), and common E Mail systems.
- Must be able to read, speak, and write English satisfactorily, bilingual a plus

Physical Demands:
- Stand or sit for long periods of time
- Occasionally lift up to 50lbs
- Travel as needed
Compensation:
- $60,000/Year
Work Schedule:
- Monday - Friday (Rotating Saturday every 3 weeks)
- Must be available to work on call from home and after hours support as needed
- Start time: 6:00am – 8:00am
